The New York Times Impact On Me

Reading the New York Time this quarter for me has actually been quite enjoyable. I never thought that I would actually enjoy reading the news but it was a pleasant surprise that I did. Until it was assigned for this class I never read or made the effort to look up news articles online.
I have been noticing mainly articles that I can relate to. For example, lately there have been many articles on skiing and ski racing. Just today I actually read an article about how racer Lindsey Vonn just took a terrible spill and tore ligaments in her knee. Also, I try to read about things in the political world. While I do not enjoy these articles I do think it is important to know what is happening in it. Lastly I tend to read articles that look interesting and exciting. Articles that you would never hear about unless you were reading the New York Time like the article about the Florida government allowing residents to hunt snakes because they are over run by them. As long as the article is exciting and I can relate to it will usually read that article.
By mainly reading articles that relate to me I am missing a lot of the world news. Rarely, if even ever, have I read an article about what is happening outside this country but I do want to change that. I believe that it is important to stay up to date with current world events as well as local ones. By reading the New York Times my daily habits have not changed at all. I do not go out of my way to read the articles but when I do, I enjoy reading them. Reading these articles has made be become more aware and has created opinions on certain topics that I know nothing about before. Basically for me, all the New York Times has done is made me more aware of current events.
